The next downtown Boone First Friday is May 5 starting at 6:00 pm. Stroll through downtown while you enjoy complimentary refreshments, art openings and receptions, live entertainment, and demonstrations. Here is a list of what's happening this coming First Friday:
Watauga County Public Library on Queen St. - Visit the Watauga County Public Library 5:00 - 7: 00 pm to see the work of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute students enrolled in Laura Aultman and Thomas Thielemann's Printmaking class. Various types of printmaking techniques will be represented including silkscreen, intaglio, colography, and monotypes. Instructors will be on hand to answer questions about the work, classes offered, and art in general. Smith Gallery at Appalachian State University is delighted to host the High Country Spring Procession taking place on Howard Street in downtown Boone. The parade line up is at 6:30 pm outside of the College Fine and Applied Arts' HOW Space at 182 Howard Street and the parade will take place 7:00 - 8:00 pm. A free hat-making workshop will be held prior to the parade from 4:00 - 6:00 pm., and the evening will conclude with a community potluck from 8:00 - 10:00 pm.
