The Downtown Boone Development Association is made up of business and property owners within the Town of Boone’s Downtown Municipal Service Tax District. The Association is led by a Board of Directors that is made up of 12 members of the Downtown Boone Development Association, 6 of those positions are appointed by Town Council while 6 are appointed by the Board itself. In addition to developing a work plan that utilizes the Main Street Four-Point Approach, the Board also develops the budget for Downtown Municipal Service District. Throughout the year there are a variety of volunteer opportunities for any group or individual who wants to be further engaged in their community.
The Main Street Four-Point Approach® of Organization, Promotion, Design and Economic Vitality leverages local assets to revitalize their districts by leveraging local assets—from cultural or architectural heritage to local enterprises and community pride. The four points of the Main Street approach work together to build a sustainable and complete community revitalization effort. Each point in the approach offers its own unique opportunity for people who want to be involved.

Committee Volunteer Opportunities
Promotions Committee—The Goal of the Promotions Committee is to create a positive image that will rekindle community pride and improve consumer confidence in our commercial district. The Committee uses advertising, retail promotions, special events and marketing campaigns to help sell the image and promise of Main Street to the community and surrounding region. They do this by communicating our downtown’s unique characteristics, business establishments and activities to shoppers, investors, potential business and property owners and visitors.
Design Committee- The Design Committee focuses on getting Downtown Boone into top physical shape and creating a safe inviting environment for shoppers, workers and visitors. The Committee takes advantage of the visual opportunities inherent in our district by directing attention to all of its physical elements: public and private buildings, storefronts, signs, public spaces, parking areas, street furniture, public art, landscaping, merchandising window displays and promotional materials. The goal being to create an appealing atmosphere through attention to all these visual elements, to convey a positive message about the commercial district and what it has to offer.
Economic Vitality Committee- The goal of the Economic Vitality Committee is to strengthen Downtown Boone’s existing economic assets while diversifying its economic base. The is accomplished by retaining and expanding successful businesses to provide a balanced commercial mis, sharpening the competitiveness and merchandising skills of business owners and attracting new businesses that the market can support.
