DESCRIPTION:Whether as a solo performer\, band leader\, band member\, session musician\, collaborator\, or just a fan of music\, Bobby Frith prizes a great song above all things. This appreciation has proven vital in his career\, the majority of which has been spent in service of other people’s songs. In this collaborator role\, he has traveled extensively\, performing everywhere from DIY clubs to dive bars\, to venues\, to music festivals\, to radio studios\, all over the eastern US — with everyone from country bands to rappers\, from punk bands to gospel choirs. Though his own original music has never been the focus of his career\, he released Garbage Factory\, a studio EP of his own songs\, in 2020\, and has quietly built up an extensive catalog of original material. His eclectic background has helped him to develop a unique sound and a distinctive songwriting voice\, which is characterized by his use of humor and a strong tendency to depict unexpected scenarios – generally avoiding the more tried and tested songwriting topics. Sonically\, his material tends toward the softer\, melodic side — in all aspects\, maintaining firstly the supremacy of the song.

Mason Jar Confessions plays a mixed bag of Americana\, rock\, folk\, bluegrass\, and original music to create “confession sessions.”\nEach member of MJC performs in other local and regional acts including Handlebar Betty\, Lost Ridge Band\, The Merry Tanksters and Turpentine Shine to form a nice blend of each of their respective other projects. Members of the band have performed in various settings with many artists including Doc Watson\, Jeff Sipe\, David Childers\, the Krueger Brothers\, and members of Railroad Earth and the New Riders of the Purple Sage.

SUMMARY:Summer Concerts at the Jones House
DESCRIPTION:The Town of Boone’s Summer Concerts at the Jones House kicks off in downtown Boone on Friday\, June 6. The popular weekly concert series on the Jones House lawn runs weekly from June through August. Showcasing local and regional acts\, the lineup features a variety of musical genres that will appeal to all types of music fans – bluegrass\, oldtime\, jazz\, folk\, songwriters\, and more. \nMusic begins at 5:30 PM. Concerts are free and open to the public\, and they are held rain or shine. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy the music from the lawn. Alcoholic beverages are permitted if patrons are of legal age\, but no open containers are allowed beyond the Jones House property. Parking is free in downtown Boone metered spaces and lots after 5 PM.

DESCRIPTION:The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra (PRSO) the leading professional ragtime orchestra in the United States\, returns to the Appalachian Theatre. Under the direction of virtuoso Andrew Greene\, PRSO recreates the syncopated stylings of a bygone era – Ragtime\, Theater\, and Dance music\, along with underscoring classic silent films. \nThis year’s event Masters of Silent Comedy will feature a selection of ragtime melodies and screenings of silent film short\, The Great Train Robbery (1903)\, and The Freshman (1925) featuring Harold Lloyd. Both films are underscored by a live twelve person orchestra performing accompanying music and sound effects! A program sure to make both young and old smile from ear to ear.
