SUMMARY:Toy Sheep Microcinema: Don’t Let the Riverbeast Get You!
DESCRIPTION:Toy Sheep Microcinema\, Awesome Space\, and the Appalachian Theatre present\n“Don’t Let the Riverbeast Get You!”\n& “SEARCHING FOR BEAUTY IN STUDENT LOAN DEBT OR AT LEAST THE ENVELOPES IN WHICH IT COMES”\nA special celebratory evening with film\, refreshments and prizes!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP FOR TOY SHEEP MICROCINEMA\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, March 27\, 2026 at 8:30 p.m. / Doors open at 8:00 p.m.\nFree Admission – Open to the Public – Space is Limited \nThis program is unrated but recommended for adults only.\nAll Seating is General Admission \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA program celebrating Spring 2026 graduates\, featuring two films: a 3D short (glasses provided!) titled SEARCHING FOR BEAUTY IN STUDENT LOAN DEBT OR AT LEAST THE ENVELOPES IN WHICH IT COMES (Nicole Tavares\, USA\, 2020\, 6 minutes) and the feature DON’T LET THE RIVERBEAST GET YOU! (Charles Roxburgh and Matt Farley\, USA\, 2012\, 99 minutes). \nWe’ll begin with Nicky Tavares’ short\, which combines images of the beautiful patterns inside the envelopes of bills she received from predatory student loan companies with a soundtrack of messages on her answering machine from debt collectors. As Tavares describes the film: “Don your 3D glasses\, open your mind\, allow the denial of questionable financial decisions made by an aspiring young artist to dissolve on your tongue\, and take a trip over 10 years to a delusory destination where the student loan debt crisis and one advanced art degree converge.” SEARCHING FOR BEAUTY… is both a breathtaking abstraction and all too concrete in its critique of so-called “affordable” higher education and the never-ending burden of capitalized interest. \nA sunnier take on education can be found in the monster comedy DON’T LET THE RIVERBEAST GET YOU!\, whose protagonist Neil Stuart (Matt Farley)\, is “the best darn tutor Rivertown U.S.A. has ever seen!” But he’s got problems. Neil’s the only person who’s seen the Riverbeast in the flesh\, and no one believes him when he warns his fellow citizens about the violent cryptid. Humiliated\, Neil leaves Rivertown U.S.A. for three years\, only to return home just as the Riverbeast begins its bloodiest killing spree yet! As Neil hunts the Riverbeast—and attempts to reconnect with his ex-fiancée Emmaline—we’re introduced to a freewheeling cast of characters\, including a finishing school dropout\, a former professional athlete\, a muckraking journalist\, and a big-game hunter and ladies’ man named Ito Hootkins. DON’T LET THE RIVERBEAST GET YOU! is American regional filmmaking (New Hampshire represent!) at its goofiest and most entertaining. \nBecause this is our annual “Congrats to Grads” party\, we’ll also have free refreshments to offer graduates in the audience\, and special surprises for our soon-to-graduate seniors in the audience! This is the last show before our summer hiatus\, so join us for these one-of-a-kind movies!

Big Iron World Tour: Back to the Roots—a series of intimate shows celebrating the band’s earliest recordings and some of the places where those songs first took shape. \nOn this tour\, the band will perform their first two label releases—O.C.M.S. and Big Iron World—in their entirety. The setlists will trace the foundation of Old Crow’s catalog\, played in smaller venues where the band first stopped in the early days\, many of which they haven’t returned to in years. \nThe performances will be presented in a more stripped-down configuration\, emphasizing the songs themselves—built to carry their weight without spectacle\, production tricks\, or distance from the audience. It’s a return to closeness: songs played up close\, in rooms where every word and harmony matters. \nTogether\, the Back to the Roots tour and the vinyl releases reflect a band that has helped define the modern American roots movement—and continues to lead it. By returning to these songs\, these rooms\, and this way of playing\, Old Crow Medicine Show underscores what they’ve always done best: push tradition forward\, expand the reach of string-band and folk music\, and remind audiences that songs built with care and conviction can last\, travel\, and keep finding new life. \nVisit Old Crow Medicine Show for more info.

DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by Deal Moseley di Santi Garrett & Martin\, LLP\nRakish\n\n\n\n\n\nPURCHASE TICKETS FOR RAKISH\n\n\n\n\n\nSunday\, March 15\, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. / Doors open at 6:30 p.m.\nSTANDARD- $15\nSTUDENT – $9 \nAll Seating is Reserved. All Ages (children under 17 admitted with parent/legal guardian)\nThis venue uses All-In Pricing. The total price listed includes ticket fees. Taxes are calculated upon checkout. \nRooted in tradition with an ear toward the future\, contemporary folk duo Rakish embody earnest musical exploration and an infectious playfulness on their new album Now\, O Now. Fiddler Maura Shawn Scanlin\, acclaimed for her expressive playing\, was raised in North Carolina’s Appalachian Mountains. Her songwriting and clawhammer banjo technique hint at regional old-time ballads. Further north\, guitarist Conor Hearn grew up steeped in the venerated Washington\, D.C. Irish music scene and developed a keen interest in literature and poetry. His setting of James Joyce’s poetry on the title track as well as “Lightly Come or Lightly Go” epitomizes the duo’s approach: the dexterous alchemy of the old and the new into something wholly Rakish. \nThe pair’s deep musical connection and unbridled love for pushing traditional sounds forward is striking. Just listen to the fiddling on “765” featuring trancey electronic dance production by Jamie Oshima or the epic tune “The Morning Glory” which is set atop an evocative\, melancholic drone. It’s clear Rakish refuses to be pigeonholed into one genre and are most comfortable occupying the inbetween. On Now\, O Now they journey through Celtic and Americana styles\, deftly showcasing how to bring forth something new from the deep well of tradition. \nVisit RAKISH to learn more.

SUMMARY:The Grascals
DESCRIPTION:Milton Harkey presents\nThe Grascals\nWith Olivia Jo\n\n\n\n\n\nPURCHASE TICKETS FOR THE GRASCALS\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, March 7\, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. / Doors open at 6:15 p.m.\nSTANDARD- $35\nSTUDENT – $16 \nAll Seating is Reserved. All Ages (children under 17 admitted with parent/legal guardian)\nThis venue uses All-In Pricing. The total price listed includes ticket fees. Taxes are calculated upon checkout. \nFew bands have made as lasting an impact on bluegrass music as The Grascals. From the very beginning\, their blend of modern traditional bluegrass\, gospel\, and country influences\, matched with world-class musicianship and an unshakable love for the genre\, has earned them a spot among the most respected and enduring groups in acoustic music. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFormed in 2004 in Nashville\, Tennessee\, The Grascals are a band built on friendship\, shared roots\, and a common vision to create bluegrass music that honors tradition while forging its own identity. Their breakout moment came fast—within months of forming\, they were hand-picked by Dolly Parton to serve as her opening act and backing band on tour. That early endorsement set the tone for the band’s trajectory: respected by legends\, loved by fans\, and celebrated by the industry. \nTheir debut album\, The Grascals announced their arrival with authority. It won IBMA’s Emerging Artist of the Year and Album of the Year and included a duet with Dolly Parton on “Viva Las Vegas” that showcased their versatility and crossover appeal. From there\, the accolades kept coming with two IBMA Entertainers of the Year awards\, three GRAMMY nominations\, a Dove Award nomination and a host of other awards and recognition.  Now with thirteen albums\, performances all over the world and for two United States Presidents\, The Grascals can truthfully say they have the best of both worlds — the steadiness of a veteran group that knows who they are and where they’re going\, and the excitement and energy of an ensemble that knows it still has something to prove. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe band’s collaborative spirit is another hallmark of their career. In addition to Dolly Parton\, The Grascals have recorded and toured with artists including Charlie Daniels\, Vince Gill\, Kenny Rogers\, Hank Williams Jr.\, George Jones\, The Oak Ridge Boys\, Patty Loveless\, Dierks Bentley\, Brooks & Dunn\, Brad Paisley\, Joe Nichols\, Steve Wariner\, The Jordanaires\, Tom T. Hall\, and more. Their respect for their musical heroes and peers has allowed them to build bridges between bluegrass and other genres\, expanding their reach without compromising their sound. \nThe Grascals are known for their ability to balance traditional drive with contemporary flair along with their authenticity\, humility\, and showmanship\, The Grascals are a fan favorite on the festival circuit and are regular performers on the Grand Ole Opry with over 200 guest appearances. Their live shows combine technical excellence with emotional storytelling and a dose of humor\, making every performance memorable. \nNow more than two decades into their career\, The Grascals remain at the top of their game—honoring the past\, embracing the present\, and helping shape the future of bluegrass music.  With a renewed spirit and zeal to continue to create and blaze new music trails\, be on the lookout for much more to come from The Grascals! SUMMARY:Tuba Skinny
DESCRIPTION:The Appalachian Theatre presents\nTuba Skinny\n\n\n\n\n\nPURCHASE TICKETS FOR TUBA SKINNY\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, February 20\, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. / Doors open at 7:00 p.m.\nSTANDARD- $29\nSTUDENT – $15 \nAll Seating is Reserved. All Ages (children under 17 admitted with parent/legal guardian)\nThis venue uses All-In Pricing. The total price listed includes ticket fees. Taxes are calculated upon checkout. \nFor over a decade Tuba Skinny has grown steadily in popularity\, releasing twelve albums and touring all over the world. They’ve attracted a wide variety of fans- young and old\, neophytes and niche-enthusiasts- with the strength of their musicianship and the scope of their jazz and American roots music catalog. \nWhile they’ve become known as world-class interpreters of traditional jazz\, over the years they’ve branched out into jug band music\, spirituals\, country blues\, string band music\, ragtime\, and New Orleans R&B. Their approach is a true reflection of Americana\, encompassing the full genealogy of popular American music from an early 20th century perspective. \nDespite a general lack of interest in social media and a limited release of their music online\, they’ve amassed an enthusiastic digital following. \nAfter a decade of playing (mostly) other artist’s songs\, Tuba Skinny decided to fulfill a long-time dream with the release of Magnolia Stroll- their first album of all-original tunes. Featuring compositions from Erika\, Shaye\, Robin\, Barnabus\, Craig\, and Max\, it is their love song to all the musicians\, living and dead\, who have inspired them\, as well as to the neighborhoods of New Orleans that have nurtured them. \nVisit Tuba Skinny to learn more.
