Construction Update -Monday Morning

Work is picking back up today following a pause over the weekend. Due to heavy pedestrian traffic typically seen on Fridays, the contractor has shifted to a Monday–Thursday schedule, working four twelve-hour days each week. This new schedule was implemented ahead of graduation weekend and is not expected to extend the overall project timeline.

Here’s what to expect today:
Crews will resume work on the sewer line near Fizz Ed that required correction, followed by the installation of a new water line at the intersection. This will be installation only, not a connection to the system, so no water service interruptions are expected at this time. However, with rain in the forecast, the schedule may shift depending on weather conditions.

Looking ahead:
Once the sewer and water line tasks are complete, crews will continue sewer line replacement along Howard Street toward Burrell Street. Concrete work is also scheduled to begin in the intersection area soon.

Last week’s progress:
• Stormwater infrastructure was replaced from the intersection to the alley beside Little Wing Ice Cream.
• Sewer line replacement progressed through roughly the same area.
• A major milestone was reached with the start of the duct bank installation. The section running through the Howard/Depot intersection was completed, marking the first step in relocating the overhead utility lines underground.

Stay tuned for more updates as work progresses.
