First Friday Art Crawl
Downtown Boone First Fridays are a wonderful opportunity to visit downtown galleries and businesses and to enjoy art showings, refreshments, and live entertainment.
May’s First Friday will include:
#ThisPlaceMatters tours – Downtown Boone and Historic Preservation Committee are teaming up to offer you the chance to hear from local experts about some of the buildings in Downtown Boone with interesting histories! The tours will be held on the half hour, starting at 5 pm, with the last tour starting at 7 pm, giving you time to visit all 5 locations and still have enough time to do some shopping! The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts is kicking off their 15th year anniversary during May’s First Friday, and you are invited to join them from 6 pm – 10 pm. During the evening, popular local classic jazz band, The Lucky Strikes will perform. Refreshments, birthday cake and a cash bar will be available during the festive evening. Visitors can stroll through the galleries and be inspired by the incredible art. A few other activities will make this anniversary extra-special. Parents and grandparents, are invited to register children for free art activities in the TCVA art classroom during the celebration. First Fridays happen the first Friday of every month except for January. Gallery reception times vary, but most First Friday events begin at 5:00 p.m. and conclude around 8:00 p.m.
