What’s Happening This Week

Crews are back on site today and continuing installation of the new water line along Howard Street. This important work is part of the ongoing infrastructure upgrades that will support a safer, more accessible, and more vibrant downtown.

Last Week’s Progress

  • Stormwater infrastructure was successfully installed between Depot Street and The Local.
  • Water line installation began and is now actively underway.
  • The Town hosted its first formal progress meeting with representatives from the engineering team, contractor, USDA, and local utility companies. These meetings help keep the project on track and ensure strong coordination among all partners.

What to Expect in the Coming Weeks

  • Boonerang Festival Preparation: Crews will work to restore as much access and cleanliness as possible before the Boonerang Music & Arts Festival (June 20–22). While the street won’t be perfect, you’ll see extra effort from Town staff to spruce things up and make the area as welcoming as possible for the event. Construction will pause beginning Thursday, June 19 to allow full access and final preparations for Boonerang weekend.
  • Upcoming Alley Closure: A full closure of the alley behind SouthEnd Brewing (next to Lumina Spa) and Howard Street to through traffic is expected in the near future as crews prepare to replace three stormwater culverts. We’ll share advance notice before this phase begins.

We know that construction can be disruptive, and we’re incredibly grateful for your continued patience, flexibility, and grace throughout this process. Every bit of progress brings us one step closer to a safer, more beautiful Howard Street that we can all be proud of. Thank you for sticking with us, we’re excited for what’s ahead!
