THIS WEEK
Construction will focus on installing brick pavers in the loading zones and crosswalk areas, hardscape and electrical work along the entire stretch of the project.
Paver installation is expected to create some temporary traffic and access impacts, particularly between Appalachian Street and Depot Street. Access will vary as crews move through the area, with some properties accessible from adjoining parking lots while others may be temporarily blocked for a day or slightly longer. While we do not anticipate anyone being completely without access, this work may make traffic patterns a little confusing at times. We will provide more specific updates to those directly impacted as information becomes available.
LAST WEEK
The sidewalks and bike lanes are now approximately 95% complete! Most of the remaining sections cannot be finished until the existing utility poles are removed.
Freedom ElecTech also joined the project this week and began wiring the new streetlights throughout the area. New River has continued working hard on its service connections, and we look forward to the remaining utilities beginning their work so we can move closer to having the existing utility poles removed.
