Howard Street Revitalization Project is Underway!
Big things are happening in downtown Boone!
On Monday, April 21, we officially kicked off the Howard Street Revitalization Project with the closure of the Howard Street and Depot Street intersection. This marks the beginning of an exciting transformation that will strengthen our downtown by improving infrastructure, enhancing pedestrian access, and creating an even more beautiful and welcoming environment for years to come.
We know that construction can cause some disruption, especially in these early weeks as crews get a rhythm and we work out the best pathways for foot traffic. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate these first steps together. We’re working hard to ensure clear wayfinding and safe pedestrian access throughout the project — and it will only get smoother from here!

This revitalization is a major investment in our downtown, and one that will benefit everyone — businesses, residents, and visitors alike. During this time, we encourage you to be intentional about supporting our amazing local businesses. Downtown Boone is filled with incredible retail shops, cozy cafes, delicious restaurants, and unique experiences — all just waiting to be explored.
A little patience now will pay off in a big way later, and your continued support makes all the difference. Thank you for being part of this exciting new chapter for Downtown Boone!
