This Week
Construction will continue in the area around Espresso News and the Footsloggers parking lot as crews work on the final stretch of the sewer line upgrades. Once the sewer line is complete, crews will move back toward the intersection of Appalachian and Howard Streets and begin working in the direction of Depot Street to install stormwater infrastructure, following a similar path and pattern as the sewer line installation.
Crews are also aiming to pour the concrete needed to reopen the intersection; however, this remains weather dependent. As soon as there is an appropriate weather window, the team will work to complete the concrete work, clean up the area, and prepare the intersection for a base layer of asphalt.
Last Week
Even with the shortened holiday week, crews made significant progress on the sewer line installation. These upgrades represent an important step forward in improving the underground infrastructure along Howard Street.
Parking Update
Thank you to everyone for your patience and flexibility with the newly installed No Parking signs along Howard Street. The updated signage has significantly helped address safety concerns and prevent damage to infrastructure in the gravel areas.
Delivery Drivers
A reminder that the current loading zone near the end of Howard Street by the 1850 Hotel is temporary. The final project design includes two designated loading zones between Depot Street and Burrell Street. These will be installed during the hardscape phase and will provide much-improved access for deliveries along the corridor.
