Thank you all for your continued patience, especially with the slight schedule adjustment last week due to rain. Construction will resume today—Monday, May 19—following the Monday–Thursday, 12-hour workday schedule, weather permitting.
Looking Ahead to This Week:
• Work will continue along Howard Street with the extension of the sewer line, followed by installation of new stormwater infrastructure.
• In the intersection, crews will begin concrete work near Footsloggers.
• Once the concrete work is complete, a layer of asphalt binder will be applied, and the intersection will reopen soon after.
Take a look at this week’s construction photo. It gives a glimpse into the complexity of the underground work, which can slow progress at times but is critical to long-term infrastructure improvements.
Last Week’s Accomplishments Included:
• Completion of the water line installation in the Howard and Depot intersection
• Sewer line correction at Fizz Ed (crews will continue to monitor this)
• Major progress on underground utility work—this portion in the intersection is now largely complete
Additional Updates:
• At this week’s Town Council meeting, Council discussed future alleyway upgrades to improve pedestrian and vehicle navigation
• Public Works has patched potholes in the alley to improve conditions in the short term
• Additional signage will be installed soon to alert pedestrians of oncoming vehicles
• A crosswalk will also be painted to help alert drivers to pedestrian traffic
