This Week

Work will continue in the area from behind the Appalachian Theatre to Appalachian Street. The goal is to put down a base layer of asphalt along the roadway, complete additional hardscape work, and reopen this section of Howard Street. As always, the asphalt schedule will be weather dependent.

If everything falls into place, there is also a chance crews could move into the section between Depot Street and Burrell Street once the current stretch reopens. Several pieces still need to come together before that can happen, so it is not yet a certainty, but we wanted to give everyone a heads-up in case work is able to shift into that area.

Last Week

Crews continued installing the project’s hardscape features, including brick pavers, bike lanes, and sidewalks. They were also able to connect the adjoining parking lots to the new roadway, helping this section of the project come together.

Special Traffic Note

Once this section of Howard Street reopens, it will return to one-way traffic only. Please be prepared for this traffic-pattern change and watch for the associated signage, which will be installed soon.

As always please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions 828-268-6283.
