This Week
Work will continue in the area from behind the Appalachian Theatre to Appalachian Street. Recent rain has slowed both the concrete and paver work, but crews are continuing to complete the remaining hardscape and build up the roadway in preparation for the base layer of asphalt. We are hopeful that asphalt can be installed this week, but as always, that will be weather dependent.
Last Week
Crews completed additional sidewalk work and continued installing pavers. The pavers are really helping the project come to life and making it much easier to visualize what the finished streetscape will look like!
Special Parking Note
The spaces across from Footsloggers, in front of FizzEd, are not yet designated parking spaces. This area is currently being used to provide additional room along the roadway while Howard Street continues to function as a two-way road within one travel lane.
Please continue to avoid parking in these spaces so vehicles can safely navigate the construction area. Vehicles parked in this area may be ticketed. Please call 828-268-6283 with any questions.
