Boone Docs Film Festival with the generous support of High Country Humanities are thrilled to welcome James Mottern to share his documentary and post-film discussion moderated by Julie Shepherd-Powell (Appalachian Studies).

A Beast Touch the Mountain – A group of Appalachian women in Bent Mountain, Virginia fought for a decade to protect their land and their way of life against a greedy and corrupt fossil fuel pipeline. The fight gets tougher and more violent as mysterious shell company Mountain Valley Pipeline gets a laid-out-in-law go-ahead from Joe Manchin to put pipe in the ground.

A student filmmaker documentary films – Juried Block (Free Admission)

6:30PM-8:30PM – Celebration of Appalachia

2 Juried Blocks ($12 – General Admission)
